Rob (rpshapar@email.unc.edu) is a lecturer in U.S. history at UNC Chapel Hill, and project coordinator for the Walnut Hill Preserve project. His primary interests are in how people in the American South and the United States in the past have interacted with one another, and with their natural environments. Using oral history to recover and share stories from the past is also a passion for Rob. He received his doctorate in history from UNC Chapel Hill in 2017, and he worked previously as a newspaper reporter in North Carolina and Georgia.
